WWOOF is an exchange, in return for your visitor's assistance on the land you provide adequate meals and clean, dry accommodation.
The exchange is based on half a day’s help which can be approximately 4-6 hours depending on the situation. Specifics such as the length of stay and any other important details should be arranged when the member (WWOOFer) initially contacts you.
It is often helpful to talk to the WWOOFer when they phone to determine their suitability to your situation. As a host you have the right to decline accommodation at your discretion.
It is useful to get feedback from Hosts and WWOOFers. Therefore any suggestions for improving the scheme or broadening its appeal would be appreciated. Both hosts and WWOOFers have many good stories of jobs done and friendships made. We also welcome your contributions to the WWOOF Newsletter.
The details given by you on the application form below will be included in a list of organic farms that WWOOFer Volunteers receive access to when they join.
Obligations of WWOOF Hosts
WWOOFers choose to go WWOOFing for a variety of reasons. Primarily they want to experience and learn about life on organic properties, meet other families and have a homely environment while they are traveling. To ensure WWOOF continues to provide this service hosts must :
Be able to provide experiences in a variety of organic farming/gardening techniques or other sustainable projects.
Be able to provide a welcoming and safe environment for their WWOOFers.
Aim to provide as much healthy organic food as possible.
Aim to make educational resources available to WWOOFers to back up the practical experience gained on the farm.
